My mom was sick and I had to take care of her.
There was a blackout and the electricity didn't come back on until today.
I had a fever.
It was my father's birthday and we had a party for him that went on until late last night.
I wasn't feeling well.
I sent it to you by email, I don't know why you didn't receive it.
I did do my homework, but I left my notebook at home.
I handed it in, but you lost my assignment.
I had a terrible stomachache.
My bus had a flat tire, so that's why I was late.
